Spring Is Here

Spring is a fascinating season. In less than 3 hours the day can morph from being a gloomy rainy day, to sunshine, then to thunderstorms, then back to a beautiful sunny day. That’s exactly what happened this past Tuesday. This shows me how shifty spring is.

Spring is not stable, nor is change.

This journey with Jesus can be bumpy. There are days that with absolute surety you believe that you’re in the right place, making the right choices, and moving in the right direction. Then there are other days when you question if you heard God correctly, did you move ahead of Him, or if you're even capable of being who He called you to be.

I’m learning not to persecute myself for not having everything all together every day. The whole point of the journey is to keep going until you reach the destination. (Cue Miley Cyrus the climb 🤣).

The change will come. For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God (2 Corinthians 1:20).
He keeps every promise. Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word] (Hebrews 10:23).
He’s never forsaken any of His children, and He won’t start now. Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).

These are facts. Despite what it looks like, the truth will always be the truth. Our responsibility is to rehearse the truth. The Bible tells us in Psalm 119:11 to hide the word of God in our hearts so that we won’t sin against it. The word sin here is translated in Greek as châṭâ' - which means to miss the way, go wrong, incur guilt, or forfeit. Hide the word in your heart so you don’t miss the goal or go the wrong way.

Somedays it will be necessary to remind yourself of the promises. & That’s okay. Just keep going.

The signs of transition are subtle. Spring is not revealed suddenly. Winter slowly phases out as the days get warmer, the expectation for snow declines, and leaves begin to return. Spring gradually emerges as the flowers begin to bud and the frequency of the rain increases. There is evidence of the shift. There are signs of change, even if you’re not living in the final destination yet.

Spring is here. Even though the days don’t all look sunny. Even though the rain starts and stops. The change is guaranteed. Trust the evidence. Most importantly, trust the source.

Pray with me -

Father thank you for the evidence of your hand at work in our lives. Thank you for your patience and grace as we find stability in the unwavering truth of your word. Father thank you for the evidence of a shift taking place. I pray that as we walk through this season of transition, you give us the strength to not let our hearts be troubled. We set our focus on you and not the inconsistencies around us. Cause your word to spring up like a well within us, fighting against anything contrary to what you have spoken. We will believe what you have spoken even if we can’t see the whole picture. Let faith rise now.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
